About Us

About Us

Rutter & Allhusen continue to provide high quality accountancy and taxation services to clients near and far afield, many of whom have been with us for numerous years. We have experienced staff, and offer a ‘one to one’ service that tends to be more difficult to find in the larger firms.

Our History

The original business was started by Jo Rutter more than fifty years ago, when he set up an accountancy business in the centre of Shaftesbury, Dorset, building up a loyal client base over the years dealing with businesses, traders, and farmers from the surrounding district.

Our Mission

To deliver a trusted and valued service to individuals, businesses and charities.  Client satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us.  A significant amount of new work is as a result of client referral.  We aim to make clients feel at ease when discussing their financial affairs.  We remain a friendly, approachable and expert team who provide a high quality service to a diverse range of clients.

Our Team

Jana
Jana

Accounts Senior

As Accounts Senior, my role is to ensure that the strict statutory filing deadlines for both Companies House and HM Revenue & Customs are adhered to and I pride myself on never missing a deadline. Being friendly and approachable, I help clients pay the right tax at the right time and help them to understand how their business is performing and advise on what changes could be implemented to improve their accounting system.

Outside of the office I am a passionate football fan and have visited the 92 league grounds. I also have a keen interest in travelling, watching cricket and going to music concerts. Over the years I have completed many challenges for charity including cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats and completing the UK 3 Peaks Challenge.

Holly

Office Manager

I joined Rutter & Allhusen in June 2017 as the Office Manager and bring with me 6 years of office management experience. I deal with all the administration for the company including monthly sales and purchase ledger controls, diary management and client liaison. I also deal with company secretarial matters including electronic company formations, appointment/resignation of director/secretary and e-filing of Confirmation Statements.
I like to keep fit and regularly attend local keep fit classes as well as social dancing.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends and I try to get out and enjoy the countryside as often as I can.

Amy

Accountant

After leaving Bournemouth University with an Upper Second class Batchelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Law, I joined Rutter & Allhusen in 2010 as a trainee accountant. My job involves preparing draft accounts for final review, dealing with VAT paperwork ready for online submission to HM Revenue & Customs, as well as managing and running clients' payroll.

I was born in Salisbury and have lived in Dorset for most of my life. In my spare time I enjoy horse riding, partner dancing and console gaming.

Graham

Bookkeeper

As a part-time bookkeeper with Rutter & Allhusen, my role includes the preparation of draft year-end accounts for final review, dealing with VAT returns for online submission to HMRC, and general bookkeeping duties.

I enjoy spending time with my young family enjoying days out and walks in the park. I like to play golf as often as the British weather permits and am a keen football enthusiast.

Jacquie

Administration Assistant

After a long and varied career at M&S, I retired, and joined Rutter & Allhusen in 2010 as a part-time Administration Assistant to the Office Manager. My role includes recording clients' books and year-end papers when received, filing, photocopying, ordering stationery and reception duties when required.

I enjoy cooking, gardening and weekly Pilates classes. I especially love spending time at the family home in France.
